SOFTBALL

Massillon Division I Sectional Final

Walsh Jesuit 9, Willoughby South 0

Natalie Susa (11-2) threw a no-hitter and struck out 16 for the fifth-seeded Warriors (15-3) and Sienna Tepley beat up the Rebels (5-11) to the tune of four hits, three runs and three stolen bases.

Susa hit two doubles and a single and Jenna Passek went 3-for-3.

"Today was a good indication of our ability to score runs in multiple ways," Walsh coach Tony Scibelli said. "We hit the ball all right and we were also able to do some things offensively that put a lot of pressure on the Willoughby South defense. Sienna is a perfect example of that. First pitch, she slaps s single into the outfield, then steals a base and she scored two batters after that on a nice hit.

"... Jenna is closer to the bottom part of our order and was able to put the ball in play and get three hits, which is huge because in the playoffs we really want to be solid 1 through 9 and put the ball in play."

More: Walsh pitcher and hitter Natalie Susa just one ingredient in recipe for success

Walsh plays fourth-seeded Painesville Riverside at 2 p.m. on Monday at Massillon.

"Natalie pitches like a senior and she is only a sophomore," Scibelli said. "She is very refined and has a strategy for each hitter she is facing. The great thing about her is she can get swings and misses on multiple pitches.

"She has a great riseball, a very good change-up, and both her screwball and curveball move a lot as well. She can get swings and misses with four types of pitches, so that makes her really tough to face when you are a hitter in the box."
