Straight out of Syria: young girl raps about Eid
STORY: This 14-year-old Syrian girl raps about her homeland
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) SYRIAN RAPPER, REAM BARAZI, SAYING:
"I like to write songs like this about Syria because it’s our country. I’d like to make clips about Syria and what we’re still doing here with our lives – because Syria is our country and we want to keep living here."
Barazi has been listening to Arabic hip-hop for three years
memorizing songs from YouTube and coming up with original lyrics
She’s also learning to play the darbuka drum
which isn't so popular with some of her neighbors

"Some people are happy when I play but other people scream, 'Stop, Ream, turn the sound down!' But others are happy for me and don't mind it."
