Stranger Things will get a freaky franchise extension ahead of the show’s fifth season, with Universal Studios creating a new interactive experience.

The Netflix show is due to conclude with its fifth and final season, but the cultural footprint of the sci-fi series has been growing in the last year with a slew of additional material.

The latest such project sees Universal Studios create a haunted house at its Orlando resort as part of Halloween Horror Nights, with fans of the show being able to take season four villain Vecna.

The attraction promises a battle of the minds before a showdown in the villain’s blood-red Mind Lair, with the aim being to withstand the villain's “gruesome curse.”

The teaser trailer for the experience recreates one of the creepier moments from the show, with the action featuring the ominous chime of a grandfather’s clock, spiders and the big bad himself.

Other Stranger Things spin-offs include The First Shadow, a stage show that will begin in London’s West End. The prequel will be set in Hawkins in 1959, with the story including younger versions of Jim Hopper, Joyce Byers and Bob Newby.

Ahead of the show’s final run, Maya Hawke recently spoke about the possibility of Robin Buckley being given a girlfriend, with the character getting close to Vickie at the end of the fourth season.

“I don’t know. I feel mixed about it. I feel that it’s both a great thing, but I also love characters where their love life is not the centre of their existence,” she said.

“That friendship with Steve is so special. And friendships have been carrying me through my life. I think they’re really important and they deserve their airtime.”

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
