Stranger Things' Gaten Matarazzo says show should "kill more people"

Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo has revealed the violent change he believes would make the hit Netflix series "so much better".
Speaking during a Stranger Things panel at Mega Con Orlando, the actor said he believed more deaths would allow fans not to get too comfortable with the fates of their favourite characters.
"It might sound messed up but we should kill more people," Matarazzo responded to a fan question asking if he would make any changes to the show (via CBR).
"This show would be so much better if the stakes were much higher, like at any moment any of these kids can kick it. I feel like we're all too safe."

Despite Matarazzo's belief that fan-favourite characters are "too safe", the Netflix show has had its fair share of tragic events and character deaths over the past four seasons.
Season one saw viewers horrified by the shocking death of Shannon Purser's Barb, leaving fans creating the #JusticeForBarb campaign in her honour.
More recently, another popular character Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn) sacrifice his life at the end of season four, volume two.
However, there's still time for Matarazzo to get his wish of seeing more characters bumped off as the fifth and final season of the Duffer brothers created show is on its way, with production resuming after a lengthy delay due to the actors and writers strikes.

The fifth season is currently expected to hit screens during 2025, with producer Shawn Levy previously telling fans the new episodes will be as "big as any of the biggest movies that we see".
"There's no way to be contiguous with season four, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth," he told Total Film.
"It's major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see."
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
