KEY ACTION: Mayor Steve Smith said he met with school officials to explain the new crosswalk to be installed at the entrance to Franklin Park.

DISCUSSION: Smith told Strasburg Superintendent Vince Lindsey that the students should continue to cross at the traffic light at First Street to go to the park. Plans are to install lights at the crosswalk and seek the speed limit to be reduced to 25 mph on Wooster Avenue. It is currently 35 mph.

In another matter, council gave approval to move forward with installing electric power and a concrete pad at the green space on Wooster Avenue at a cost of about $15,000. “We want to show people we are doing something with the area,” Smith said.

OTHER ACTION:

  • Agreed to proceed with legal advertising to expand the wastewater treatment plant. Law Director Terry Seeberger was authorized to draw up qualifications for the project.

  • Agreed to put a hold on moving forward with two parking lots, at the rear the ProHelp Reality and the empty lot next to the business until next spring.
