Stratford and Tascosa rise, Bushland falls to No. 8 in latest DCTF rankings

The latest release of Dave Campbell's Texas Football high school football rankings had six teams from the Panhandle included in the top 10 of their respective classes.

Tascosa (7-1) rose up one spot and is ranked No. 7 in the Class 5A Division I rankings following an 34-28 overtime victory over district rival Caprock last Thursday.

Canyon (7-1) fell out of the rankings after its first loss of the season to Randall last week.

Bushland (8-1) dropped six spots to No. 8 following its 43-28 loss to current No. 5 Shallowater at home last week. The Falcons will try to rebound on Friday night against Dalhart.

Canadian (6-2) stayed steady at No. 4 in the Class 3A Division II rankings following a one-sided 56-13 win over Friona. They will face off against Tulia this week.

Stratford (8-0) moved up one spot to No. 5 following a 51-0 shutout victory over Sanford-Fritch. The Elks will challenge Highland Park on Friday as they aim for their 21st straight victory.

Wellington (7-1) stayed at No. 3 in the Class 2A Division II rankings. The Skyrockets have outscored their three district opponents Shamrock, Memphis and Wheeler by a combined score of 150-0. Their next challenge will be a meeting with Quanah on Friday.

Happy (7-1) once again stayed at No. 6 in the Class 1A Six-Man Division I rankings following a 40-6 victory over Nazareth. They will host the Wildorado Mustangs this week.
