Stratham Historical Society awards 2023 academic scholarships
STRATHAM — The town’s Historical Society recently announced the nine students awarded the Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence 2023 scholarships.
The following students each received a $1,000 scholarship:
Audrey Bourn, of Stratham, will attend Mount Holyoke College in the fall.
Breck Cox, of Newfields, will attend St. Lawrence University in the fall.
Ryan Guerette, of Stratham, will attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
Nora Hickey, of Stratham, will attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
Ella Horvath, of Stratham, will attend Bryn Mawr College in the fall.
Rachel Khoury, of Stratham, will attend College of the Holy Cross in the fall.
Lance Michael Makabali, of Stratham, will attend Purdue University in the fall.
Charles Nutbrown, of Exeter, will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall.
Owen A. O’Keefe, of Stratham, will attend Bentley University in the fall.
The scholarships are made possible by the generosity of the late Mr. Winfield L. Foote, a long-time resident of Stratham and a strong supporter of the Stratham Historical Society. With this year’s awards, the society will have distributed more than $125,000 to local students.
Each year, two or more $1,000 awards are offered to qualified applicants who meet the criteria set forth by the society. Watch for future announcements and or check with guidance departments to obtain applications. These are available in February of each year for public and private high school seniors who are Stratham residents and students from surrounding communities enrolled in the SAU 16 School District. In addition, generous awards are offered to college rising juniors and seniors, and graduate students who qualify.
