What to Stream on Netflix in April 2019
If you love a thriller, you're going to love Netflix in April. With all the shows that get pulled from that great streaming canon in the sky (cloud?), they're replaced with a new stock of classics. This month, there's a little bit of true crime (Bonnie & Clyde is a perfect companion to The Highwaymen), a lot of thrillers (from Beyoncé to backwoods assault), and a touch of stoner comedy. That's all to say that this month is good for everyone. Check out eight of the best options coming out this month.
All The President's Men (April 1)
All The President's Men may be the best journalism movie out there. Telling the insane story behind the journalists who unearthed the truth around the Watergate scandal, All The President's Men is a welcome throwback and required viewing for any cinephile.
Bonnie and Clyde (April 1)
Bonnie and Clyde is perhaps the most charming portrait of the murderous bank robbing duo that is Bonnie and Clyde. The classic was up for an insane list of Academy Awards, and no matter how much debauchery they caused, it's hard to not be charmed by Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty.
Deliverance (April 1)
Deliverance doesn't get its due for being an absolutely terrifying entry into the horror genre. And honestly, it can all be summed up in five words: squeal like a pig, boy.
I Am Legend (April 1)
This apocalyptic feature from Will Smith came during the peak of his film career, and honestly, why don't we have more Will Smith movies? Bonus points: there's a very good dog in this, but also... well, watch and see.
Obsessed (April 1)
This is the story of what happens when you cross Beyoncé. We thank Ali Larter for being a sacrificial lamb in what I believe is actually an elaborate after-school special.
Pineapple Express (April 1)
Seth Rogen's stoner action film drops into Netflix on April 1, and features all your favorite stoner-adjacent staples that have become integral in Rogen-Apatow features.
The Bone Collector (April 1)
Part horror. Part crime thriller. All insanity. The Bone Collector features the very odd pairing of Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie that could only come from the weird crossover that is the late '90s.
The Imitation Game (April 29)
Rounding out the group is The Imitation Game, a World War II era drama about a gay cryptanalyst who helped the British in their defeat of Germany.
