Street renamed to honor Pemberton
Oct. 24—Mike Pemberton has worked for the City of Ironton for nearly five decades and, this month, he received a special honor in appreciation.
A portion of North Third Street, by the city garage, was renamed as Mike Pemberton Way, by order of Mayor Sam Cramblit II.
Cramblit notes that Pemberton, who serves as serves as superintendent of the city's street, sanitation and flood departments, began working for Ironton when he was 18 and will mark his 50th year with the city next year.
The city has been installing new street signs the last few weeks and Cramblit said the order for Pemberton's sign was placed as a special request with that order.
