Street sign replacement OK’d in Hudson

New signs will be installed throughout Hudson in the coming weeks.

The Hudson City Council on Tuesday approved the purchase of street and traffic control signs at a cost not to exceed $4,500. The city currently has 45 street signs and 42 traffic control signs in disrepair or missing.

Dornbos Sign and Safety Inc. will be the company used for buying the street signs, officials said. The traffic signs will come from Safetysign.com. Street signs will be given first priority, followed by traffic control. Any additional funds will be put toward buying “no parking” signs.

Dornbos will also sell the hardware for the signs. The city has $5,000 in its budget this year for signs.

In other business, the city council tabled a recommendation to buy a sewer camera and locator for $2,280, and approved a $3,000 purchase of parts to repair the city’s street sweeper. The parts will come from Lacal Equipment in Ohio, with the expense to be covered by the city’s motor vehicle fund.
