OSHKOSH - Day by Day Shelter will hold its first fundraiser in almost five years on Oct. 13. Streets of Hope will be held 6 to 11 p.m. at Becket’s Center Atrium.

Streets of Hope will be an immersive and interactive arts fundraiser; a night of appreciation of street culture. Tickets are available now at streetsofhope.art.

With a new building and services, the shelter is in need of additional income and is seeking local organizations to partner with on the new fundraiser.

There is currently an open call for artists and volunteers and openings exist for additional sponsors.

GO Transit offers free rides Sept. 1

GO Transit will offer a “Free Ride Day” Sept. 1 for fixed-route transit service. The free ride is to thank current riders and offer new riders a chance to see how the public transit system works.

The free ride day also falls on the first day of school for Oshkosh Area School District students. Students may ride for free all school year, but students in grades 6-12 will need to have a student pass ID to continue to ride for free.

The student IDs can be obtained from the GO Transit office, 926 Dempsey Trail. The application can be found online at ci.oshkosh.wi.us/transit.

Residents are reminded that bus services will not operate Sept. 4 in observance of Labor Day.

No garbage collection Sept. 4

In observance of Labor Day, the city of Oshkosh’s Sanitation Division will not collect garbage or recycling on Sept. 4.

Collection will be a day later for the rest of the week with the Sept. 8 schedule being collected Sept. 9.

The yard waste drop-off on West Third Avenue also will be closed Sept. 4. It will reopen Sept. 5.

Golf outing raises $15,000 for Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh Alumni Association raised $15,000 during its second annual golf outing fundraiser Aug. 13 at Far Vu Golf Course.

All funds raised will support the club, including experiences and caring for Camp Radford. Alumni also support the club’s Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas party.

The alumni group thanks the community for its support, including sponsors, golfers, volunteers and those that donated raffle prizes.

Leading sponsors included NTD, Far Vu Golf Course, Spring Loaded LLC, Rocky Rococo and Rose Subs, Oshkosh, Oshkosh City Tavern League, Retro’s Pub, Oshkosh Coil Spring and Water City Pub.

Public has chance to win ticket to exclusive event launch party

Oshkosh Festivals has announced a new music festival will debut in August 2024. To celebrate XRoads41 (pronounced “Crossroads 41”), an invite-only launch party will take place Oct. 6 at the Oshkosh Arena. The event includes performances by Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry and David Lee Murphy.

Oshkosh Festivals has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh as a charity partner for the launch party. Attendees will have a chance to support the organization through onsite parking donations or inside the venue.
