Many people struggle with stress and anxiety over the holidays.

As Thanksgiving gives way to December, and Christmas and other holidays come into focus, it's time to check your stress level. If it's rising, an upcoming Columbia Public Library event might unlock a more serene season.

Tuesday at noon, the library will host the live Zoom presentation "Holidays or Hollering Days? Tips to Lower Your Holiday Stress Level." Heather Harlan with Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services and A.T. Still University's Sarah Berke will lead the conversation. Both work with the Columbia branch of NAMI, or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

NAMI has "created a list of 59 ways to lower your stress level as you plan for the holidays and the long winter season," the library's event description notes; this list will guide Harlan and Berke's presentation focused on a proactive approach.

Those interested in following along can register for a Zoom link via the library's website. The presentation will be recorded, and be added later to the library's YouTube channel. For more information, visit https://www.dbrl.org/events.
