Stretch of Palm Canyon in Palm Springs to close Thursday for maintenance. Here's how to get around it

A two-block stretch of South Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs will be closed for road work Thursday.

The road will be closed between Tahquitz Canyon Way and Baristo Road from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The closure will allow city street maintenance crews to grind, repair and re-stripe the road following the removal of several restaurant parklets, city spokesperson Amy Blaisdell said.

Blaisdell said she did not know specifically which restaurants had removed their parklets or why.

During the closure, traffic will not be able to get through Arenas Road at South Palm Canyon. However, traffic will be able to get through Palm Canyon Road at Tahquitz Canyon Way and Baristo Road.
