Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton is the face of a new documentary series exploring the Lake District.

Set to air next year, Lost and Found in the Lakes consists of 15 episodes, with Skelton leading a team of experts in search of precious, misplaced items across the World Heritage Site.

According to the BBC press release, they'll attempt to reunite people with treasured possessions that they had believed were gone for good.

Skelton, who partnered up with Gorka Márquez in last year's ballroom competition, is joined by divers, magnet fishers and detectorists for Lost and Found in the Lakes, as they dredge lakebeds and hunt through stunning forestry.

"They'll take what they find back to base, either to reunite them with their delighted owners, or to start the process of working out who the items might belong to. To do this, they enlist help of a specialist social media detective, who will create online campaigns to help reunite owners with their lost possessions," a synopsis read.

"Some of the unclaimed items will be given an extraordinary and sometimes ingenious new lease of life by one of the area's talented craftspeople too."
