Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has opened up about keeping her pregnancy secret over the last few months.

The It Takes Two co-host and husband Aljaž Škorjanec confirmed last month that they were expecting their first baby together, having learnt she was pregnant in December.

During an appearance on today's (March 22) Lorraine, Janette spoke about keeping the news private for two months, revealing they only told their families on Christmas Day.

"The only people we told were our parents and siblings on Christmas Day," she recalled. "So we had to, because we were in Miami with my family, and I thought, 'When am I ever going to have the chance on Christmas Day to give them this news?'

"So that was the only people we told. But everybody else we waited until at least that 12-week mark."

Aljaž joked: "In reality we just forgot to buy the presents, so we sort of compromised with that one!"

Janette went on to speak about keeping the news secret on the recent Strictly live tour, explaining that she wore flowy clothes to conceal her growing baby bump.

"I did the Strictly live tour – that was tough to keep hidden, because obviously on the Strictly live tour we're on stage and we're out every night, and we're having the best time," she said. "So I made sure to wear this very big yellow dress, oversized suit just in case.

"All of them started to get a bit of an inch, idea, you know, 'Are you sure you don't want to have a glass of wine with us tonight?'"

Janette also revealed during the interview that she was "feeling good" during her pregnancy, adding: "I don't take for granted how lucky I've been with this pregnancy, because everything has been so smooth.

"We just got back from the doctors not long ago, and the baby's absolutely fine."

Announcing they were expecting last month, the couple explained that they had been trying for a while, but had been unsuccessful and were planning to try IVF.

"I know that IVF can be really strenuous on a woman's body and there is no guarantee it will work," Janette told HELLO!.

"To know that this little miracle just came from a wonderful night we had together is amazing. I think the baby decided to make Mum and Dad panic a bit before saying: 'OK, fine, I'm coming now'."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
