Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas and Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley are just two of the eight celebrities who will get their hands dirty in the kitchen in ITV's upcoming programme Cooking With The Stars.

Hosted by Emma Willis and Tom Allen, the brand-new show will partner up each celebrity with a renowned professional chef who will assist them through a series of challenges but also potentially boot them out of the competition.

Throughout the show the celebrities will be pitched against each other in a series of cooking battles. In the first round of each episode, the celebrities will be trained by their mentors to serve delicious dishes.

After being judged by the rest of the professional panel, the bottom two will have to serve a creation they will have to prepare a recipe without the help of the chefs, who will judge their creation blindly and will be unaware of who they will pick to be sent home – it could be their protégé.

Alongside Shirley and Catherine, to be transformed from passionate home cooks to restaurant-level chefs will be Denise van Outen, McFly's Harry Judd, comedian and actor Johnny Vegas, TV presenter AJ Odudu, comedian and actor Griff Rhys-Jones and DJ and songwriter Naughty Boy.

On the professionals' side, we'll have TV chef Rosemary Shrager, This Morning's Joseph Denison Carey, food writer and restaurant owner Nisha Katona, Michelin-starred chef Mark Sargeant, chef director Jack Stein, Korean food expert Judy Joo, chef and business owner Tristan Welch and Italian restaurateur Francesco Mazzei.

While no preview pics or clips of the show have been released yet, ITV announced that it will air and stream on ITV Hub this summer.

Will Cooking With The Stars it be the chaotic Bake Off fix we need inbetween seasons?
