Strictly Come Dancing couple Kai Widdrington and Nadiya Bychkova have opened up about their relationship.

The professional dancing couple started dating in January 2022, and went public with their romance recently.

But the pair said they still haven’t moved in together yet, despite what the public assume.

"At the beginning we were still figuring it out for ourselves," Nadiya told MailOnline.

"It is easier now in the sense that everyone knows we're together but having a relationship in the public eye is tough."

Kai added that the pair kept their romance as secret as possible as "everything is scrutinised".

"But there are some positives, we get to do what we love, and create the show, so it's how you balance it," Nadiya continued.

Speaking of how things are going now, Kai, who joined the BBC show in 2021, said: "For us, we are living the absolute dream fairytale. We are trying to take it all in really."

Kai recently opened up about the very moment they fell for each other, saying it was love at first sight.

"When I first met Nadiya I was instantly attracted to her – I mean, look at her," he said.

"We got on really well then the moment for me was when we first danced together – that’s when we realised that there was something special there."

Nadiya added it was when they performed a routine to Luke Evans singing 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'.

"When we danced together while Luke Evans was singing, that was the best dance I have ever done in my career just because of how I felt," she said. "When I knew I was going to dance with Kai, I didn’t worry even for a second.

"I was so relaxed, confident and sure nothing would go wrong because I can trust him so much. I’d never experienced it before to that level. We did it in one take, which is rare – it’s very rare."

Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
