Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Thomas has had to pull out of a project for health reasons.

The actor, who's famous for his roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, hosts a podcast titled Mancs with a Mic with his brothers Ryan (Coronation Street, Neighbours) and Scott (Love Island).

The podcast drops an episode a week, but the most recent episode didn't feature Adam.

His brothers explained that Adam has rheumatoid arthritis, and he has good days and bad days with the condition. "It's so hard to watch," Ryan said.

Thirty-five-year-old Adam revealed his battle with rheumatoid arthritis ahead of his first dance on this year's Strictly, stating: "I've been in a lot of pain since January, it started with my knees and then travelled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.

"I never knew what was happening, and finally, after several blood tests and back and forth to doctors and hospitals, I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis! I thought that was something people later on in their life get... but that's not the case, clearly!"

Adam continued: "It's been a tough old year, but... Finally I'm on the right plan now! Finally getting it under control. For now!

"But some days are better than others, and [I] am not going to lie, it's been hard not being able to train properly, [it] has had a huge [knock-on] effect for me personally, but not only that for my family too!!"

He then explained that while he knew Strictly would be a challenge for him, he wanted to do it as a way to push himself and get his body moving again.
