Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton has unearthed a social media post from girlfriend Stacey Dooley that shows she had a crush on him long before they met.

The couple were paired up in the 16th series of the BBC dance show in 2018, going on to lift the Glitterball trophy in the final. They subsequently confirmed they were in a relationship the following year, with the pair welcoming their first child earlier this year.

It seems the attraction – at least one way – was there early on, with Kevin sharing a post to highlight a tweet from Stacey in 2013.

“OMG! That new guy,” tweeted Stacey upon Kevin’s debut in the 11th series. “I likey! God I love Strictly!”

In tandem with the screenshot, Kevin wrote in the caption: “As the @bbcstrictly pros are announced today I’m just gonna leave this here again from @sjdooley twitter in 2013….. #strictly #strictlycomedancing”

Strictly stars past and present reacted to the post, with former professional Aljaž Škorjanec commenting: “She knew….” Current pro Dianne Buswell also responded by writing: “No way 😂that’s so funny,” while judge Motsi Mabusi commented: “Love at first sight.”

Stacey, who has also presented Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star, recently announced new project In Conversation with Stacey Dooley, which will see her take to the stage and interact with a live audience.

“I'm delighted to be going back out on the road!,” she said of the project. “So much has happened since my last tour — professionally and personally. I honestly can't wait to see you all in person. What a treat!

“These brand-new live shows have completely fresh content, never seen before,” she teased. “I'll be sharing behind the scenes stories and clips from some of my more recent documentaries, as well as exploring Britain's mental health crisis based on the findings of my latest book, Are You Really OK?
