Strictly Come Dancing's Nancy Xu reunited with Will Mellor and his family to celebrate New Year.

Xu and Mellor competed in the 2022 series of Strictly, finishing in fifth place overall, but have remained firm friends since.

The professional dancer and her partner Mikee Introna welcomed in 2024 with the Two Pints of Lager and Coronation Street actor and his wife, Michelle McSween-Mellor.

Xu posted a video fast-forwarding through the highlights of the night to her Instagram, and wrote: "I am always grateful for the people I have met, especially in this busy world we still can keep the relationships!

"Our 2nd year to celebrate the new year together with Mellor's family. Laughter, chatting, dancing, fireworks, drinkkkkkkk. Full of happiness and love in the house.

"We made our wishes and lit up a lantern, freed it to the sky. And it was very successful. Thanks for having us with all of your beautiful family and friends again. Mikee and I always have such [an] amazing time with you guys.

"Dear all, May all of you have an amazing year ahead."

January 1 also saw the return of Mellor's character Harvey Gaskell to Corrie, making a surprising alliance with Adam Barlow. Although, as the actor explained, it's quite the one-sided partnership.

"He'll make Adam do things that he's not comfortable with, he'll see how far he can push him," Mellor said. "I don't think he really trusts Adam, I'm not sure Harvey trusts anybody. But while he's in prison he'll play these games, it's like it keeps him going while he's inside to have these mind games.

"He's a puppet master and playing with people's lives keeps him entertained if nothing else. But also if there is a chance of him getting out, through somebody like Adam doing something dodgy, then he's going to use it."

Strictly Come Dancing can be rewatched via BBC iPlayer. Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
