Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly has shared an update on her husband Vernon Kay, following his ultramarathon challenge for Children in Need.

The TV presenter praised the Radio 2 DJ's efforts and shared how she was looking after him post-run in a heartfelt Instagram post, including a sweet photo of her and Vernon hugging.

"Not to get all sentimental on here but we are so proud of @vernonkay and all he's achieved and raised for @bbccin," the caption began.

"When he first said he was running 116 miles in 4 days for charity, we were shocked to say the least (and genuinely wondered if his knees would make it through), but with every day he accomplished more and more miles."

Daly thanked the Radio 2 listeners for their support and generosity with donations, in addition to their "cuddles, high 5s and homemade cakes". As of Monday, Kay has raised £5,849,484 for his ultramarathon.

"I know he could not be more grateful," she added. "Been loading him up since with soup, hot water bottles and hugs."

Daly's Strictly co-host Claudia Winkleman commented four love hearts on the post, with Strictly It Takes Two presenter Fleur East also sharing applause hand emojis in the comment section.

Kay shared an update of his own on his Instagram Stories yesterday, uploading a photo of a damaged toenail following his marathon. "Good odds on this guy not lasting the week!!!" read the caption alongside a sick emoji face.

Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturdays and Sundays on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
