Strong 2022 seasons results in talented 1st, 2nd teams for All-Johnson County volleyball

Dec. 24—Playoff teams account for 68% of the total selections on the First Financial Bank 2022 All-Johnson County volleyball team, led by the Godley Lady Cats and Grandview Lady Zebras.

Including superlative awards, Godley's eight selections and Grandview's seven selections lead the way after the Lady Cats went 31-8 as undefeated District 10-4A champs while the Lady Zebras finished 33-9 as District 17-3A champs and a regional tournament participant.

"Our season was full of success, from individual accomplishments for some of my girls to many team accomplishments," said Godley Coach Courtney Hammett, the all-county co-coach of the year. "Although we fell short in the second round against Celina, I look back on this season as one of the best I've ever been a part of. I am very appreciative that the county recognizes that and honors these very deserving young women."

"I'm really proud of our kids and the season we had, but even more proud of girls athletics at Grandview," said Grandview Coach Jesilyn Hatch, the all-county co-coach of the year. "We may be one of the smaller schools in the area but that doesn't stop us from developing our athletes and teams into being dominant and our Grandview coaching staff has all put in a tremendous amount of effort to make it happen."

Next in line are Alvarado, Burleson, Joshua and Rio Vista with five selections apiece.

"I told my girls how exciting it is for there to be five of them chosen from all of Johnson County while also being a 2A team," Rio Vista Coach Misty Martin said. "I think having this many selected just goes to show that they put in the work and want to be better at everything they are doing. I am proud that these girls represent Rio and they continue to strive to be the best."
