Strong Earthquake Felt in Alaska

A magnitude-6.1 earthquake was recorded in the Talkeetna Mountains in Alaska late on May 30.

According to the Anchorage Daily News, the quake was felt from Homer to Fairbanks, and was “felt especially strongly” in the Mat-Su and Anchorage areas.

This footage, by Tim Lightner, shows a light fixture and pots swaying. The video was filmed in Anchorage, he said, writing, “really shook us up in Anchorage.”

According to the Alaska Earthquake Center, the quake struck just before 11 pm and was centered 55 miles north of Sutton.
