Strong quake rocks northern Taiwan
Footage shows TV sets and lamps shaking at a local TV newsroom in New Taipei during the quake.
The quake, which local weather authorities said measured at a magnitude of 6.0, didn't affect the operation of Taiwan's highspeed rail.
The epicenter was located more than 50 kilometers east of the city of Hualien, hitting at a depth of 19.4 km, according to the local authorities.
The strongest impact was recorded in Taiwan's capital city Taipei and in parts of Yilan, measuring 4 on Taiwan's 7-level intensity scale.
Intensity levels were lower in more southern parts of Taiwan.
