Strong Wind and Blowing Sand Reduce Visibility on North Carolina's Outer Banks
An approaching storm brought strong wind and high surf to North Carolina’s coast on Saturday, November 16, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warned residents to brace for “major coastal flooding” along the Outer Banks.
The NWS described the storm as a “strong” and “slow-moving” system that was forecast to hit eastern North Carolina over the weekend and possibly continue into early next week.
The NWS issued a High Surf Advisory, Coastal Flood Warning, and High Wind Warning for the Outer Banks, forecasting 10-to-15-foot waves and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
