Strong Wind Topples Part of Main Stage at Spanish Music Festival

Severe wind toppled part of a stage, killing at least one person, during a music festival in Cullera, Spain, in the early hours of Saturday, August 13, according to authorities.

El Mundo, citing the health ministry, reported 40 people were injured. The main entrance to the venue and part of the main stage collapsed, the outlet said, citing local officials.

Festival organizers suspended the event in the early hours of Saturday.

“We are completely devastated and dismayed at what happened,” organizers said on Instagram, according to a machine translation. “The Medusa Festival management would like to express our deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends affected by the fatal consequences,” they said.
