Stroudsburg Weis sells $5M PA Lottery scratch-off

A lucky lotto player won a $5 million grand prize on a scratch-off game they picked up from a Monroe County Weis Markets, Pennsylvania Lottery officials announced Monday.

According to a release from the Pennsylvania Lottery, a $5 Million Money Maker ticket sold at the 9th Street Weis Markets in Stroudsburg was a big winner, earning the as-yet-unidentified buyer one of the five top prize for the $50 scratch-off game.

Weis Markets received a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

The $5 Million Money Maker game follows the basics of standard scratch-offs, where players must match one of their numbers to a winning number, netting them the prize shown beneath the matching number. Revealing a "money roll" symbol earns the player whatever prize is listed beneath it; a "$500 burst" symbol wins them an instant $500; a "vault" symbol yields all 30 prizes shown, and the "five mil" symbol awards the player with the big prize instantly.

The "star bonus" section features its own bonuses, including a "$1,000 burst" symbol, along with a "20X" or "50x" symbol which multiplies any prize won in the main play area. The "cash bonus" section, played separately, can earn the player an instant cash prize.

While the overall odds of winning any prize in the game amount to 1 in 3.69, winning the $5 million big-ticket prize is a 1 in 1,440,000 miracle.

Only two of the five grand prizes remain as of Monday evening, though there are still five $500,000 prizes, six $25,0000 prizes, 137 $10,000 prizes, 289 $5,000 prizes, and 5,277 $1,000 prizes.

The Pennsylvania Lottery notes players who win a scratch-off game should immediately sign the back of the ticket, and contact the Lottery at 1-800-692-7481.
