Student, 15, riding bicycle taken to hospital after school bus crash, FHP says

A 15-year-old student was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a Collier County school bus struck her.

The crash happened along Livingston Road, near Veterans Memorial Boulevard, in North Naples. Authorities didn't immediately disclose the time of the crash.

Lt. Greg Bueno, spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol, said the teen was riding a bicycle.

Bueno said the teenager was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

No children on the bus at the time, Bueno said.

Chad Oliver, spokesperson for Collier County Public Schools, said the driver had just finished dropping off students at Aubrey Rogers High School, 15100 Veterans Memorial Blvd., when the crash happened.

Oliver confirmed a student enrolled in Collier County Public Schools was involved in the incident. He added that the school district will follow post-accident procedures, which involve drug and alcohol testing for the bus driver.

"The driver could return to the route after a negative test and the required additional training following an accident," Oliver said.
