Thrift shop volunteer Joann McCullough presented a $2,000 check to Dori LoPriore, of the Rescue Sanctuary to the Maxx, and her friend Cynthia Marks, the release said.

Marks brought the 501(c)(3) animal shelter to the shop’s attention. LoPriore’s shelter specializes in adopting senior cats whose owners can no longer keep them, disabled cats, and feral cats, though she is often called upon to take other types of pets by authorities who discover the animals in the course of their legal operations, the release said.

She currently has 167 pets, many of them available for adoption.

Footprints on My Heart is an organization that supports and comforts mothers who have lost their newborn babies.

“Our thanks to our customers who donate their items to us and who shop at our store,” McCullough said in the release. “Their generosity is what allows us to make these donations every month.”
