Student-athletes gather in Atlanta for 2nd annual NIL Summit at College Football Hall of Fame
College athletes from all over the nation are in Atlanta getting invaluable advice about how to make the most of their name, image, and likeness.
The 2nd annual NIL Summit is being held at the College Football Hall of Fame until Monday, June 5th.
In only its second year, the 2023 NIL Summit consisted of multiple panels discussing topics to help student-athletes navigate their collegiate career while tapping into name, image, and likeness deals.
The President and CEO of the College Football Hall of Fame, Kimberly Beaudin told Channel 2 Action News the decision to host this event for its second year came as a no-brainer.
“It was a perfect fit,” she said. “One of the key missions of the hall is to celebrate esteem values. We celebrate teamwork, dedication, excellence, and integrity and these student-athletes embody that.”

Over the three-day-long event, there are a number of experts from the sports and financial industries to guide young athletes to make good decisions about their future.
Channel 2 Action News spoke with co-owner and vice president of WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, Renee Montgomery, who participated in the Building Wealth for your ‘future self’ Invesco QQQ panel.
The panel was an open discussion focused on the importance of fundamental financial literacy skills that many feel are critical for success in the NIL Era.
“I think it’s pretty good that these student-athletes are getting a touch point early at this NIL Summit,” Montgomery told Channel 2 Action News. “I’m hyped they brought this event to Atlanta because of all the opportunities here. I hope student-athletes can even see how you can get infused into a whole city,”

Beaudin told Channel 2 Action News this event is not only a great thing for the city of Atlanta but it’s also an excellent thing for the College of Football Hall of Fame.
“We are excited to host student-athletes from across the country at the College Football Hall of Fame for a multi-day professional development experience learning to maximize benefit from their Name, Image and Likeness. Given the Hall’s mission, flexible footprint, and cutting-edge technology, we are the perfect venue for this event,” she said. “Our goal is that these student-athletes take full advantage of the opportunity and leave with new skills to build their brands and leverage their talents in a thoughtful and strategic way.”
University of Georgia’s star football player Brock Bowers was been nominated for Male Athlete of the Year at the Student-Athlete NIL Awards.
The NIL award ceremony took place Saturday night at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Bowers, a sophomore standout and projected 2024 NFL draft prospect has NIL deals with Associated Credit Union, Zaxby’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and others. These deals bring Bowers’ annual value to over $720,000 according to On3.
The Male Athlete of the Year award recognizes male student-athletes who have exhibited the best use of their Name, Image, and Likeness.
