Student charged with bringing a loaded handgun to school

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office on Friday arrested a middle school student for bringing a loaded gun to school, according to a ACSO Facebook post.

Deputies say the 15-year-old stole the gun from his mother without her knowledge before bringing it to Fort Clarke Middle School.

The teen is being charged with theft of a firearm, possession of a weapon on school grounds and burglary of a conveyance.

"The mother should be arrested too," said Chris Liseski in a comment to the Facebook post. "The gun should have been locked up so the child could not get to it. Child abuse, neglect & a host of other charges should be filed against this parent. Other children & adults could have died because of this lazy parent's so called 2nd amendment rights."
