Student cut with knife during fight at Hoover High School

A student was cut with a knife during a fight in the Hoover High School parking lot on Tuesday.

Two students were involved in a fight around 1 p.m in the school's north parking lot, said Des Moines school district spokesperson Amanda Lewis.

During the fight, one of the students was cut with a knife. Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek said Tuesday afternoon the injury was superficial and that detectives are investigating.

A school nurse examined the student who was cut, and the student's parent took them to receive medical attention.
