A 16-year-old student at Lincoln High in Warren was arrested Wednesday after making a threat against another student, police said.

The teen had an empty firearm magazine, authorities added.

Other students reportedly thought they saw a handgun, but none was found.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said there was briefly chaos in one of the classrooms, and the school went into lockdown, but after the teen was taken into custody, students were later released.

Lincoln High is the latest metro Detroit school to wrestle with threats of school violence since the Oxford High School shooting rampage six weeks ago by a 15-year-old that killed four students and injured six others and a teacher.

School threats have been especially unsettling in recent weeks as new details about the deadly Oxford High shooting emerge from court cases. In addition, dozens of students have been charged with copycat threats.

Attorney Geoffrey Fieger has filed a $100-million civil lawsuit against the Oxford district, accusing school officials of some culpability for the deaths by allowing a "deranged, homicidal student to return to class with a gun in his backpack."

The lockdown Wednesday was especially chilling because on the same day, Oxford shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley pleaded not guilty to killing four students. The plea was entered through his lawyer.

Crumbley is being charged as an adult and is being held with no bond.

And just last week, Taylor High School went into lockdown after a threatening note was found in a bathroom, officials there said.

In Warren, the gun magazine — an ammunition storage and feeding device for a repeating firearm — was reportedly found at the school after police arrested the teen. Police are investigating the incident and searching for a gun.
