Speaking to NBC News, Lifka, 25, said the experience of having national attention turned toward her small classroom has been “overwhelming.”

Mr Trump spoke for over an hour and made a series of claims.
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter tweeted support for accused Wisconsin shooter Kyle Rittenhouse, saying "I want him as my president". Twitter removed Ms Coulter's statements for violating the platform's rules after users took offence at her opinion, made in response to a user saying they wanted the teenager as a "bodyguard". Mr Rittenhouse, 17, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with shootings that left two people dead during the violence in Kenosha on Tuesday night.

As we wait for a full Wisconsin Department of Justice report on the Jacob Blake shooting, speculation has run rampant online about whether the 29-year-old Kenosha man was armed — and with what — in the moments before a Kenosha police officer shot him seven times in the back. The lack of detailed information from law enforcement has only added to the speculation.

Before President Trump formally accepted his party's nomination Thursday, his Democratic rivals accused him of overseeing a convention detached from the realities of a nation buffeted by economic, health and social crises. "The Republican convention is designed for one purpose, to soothe Donald Trump's ego, to make him feel good," said California Sen. Kamala Harris, Joe Biden's vice presidential running mate, in a speech delivered from a university auditorium in Washington, D.C. As Republicans at their convention largely downplayed the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 180,000 people in the U.S., Harris argued that Trump's failure to address the health emergency more aggressively is emblematic of a tweet-driven presidency.
Witnesses who saw a Kenosha, Wisconsin, police officer shoot Jacob Blake on Sunday told Insider what they saw happen. One man said he thought Blake was going back to the vehicle to check on his three young sons in the back seat. While that man now says he thinks the officer was justified in shooting Blake, several other neighbors who witnessed the shooting disagree and say police used unnecessary force.
The Fox News anchor Chris Wallace pushed back against panelists on a talk show on Thursday after one pundit appeared to justify vigilante justice at the Kenosha protests by blaming Wisconsin's leadership. "On the argument of vigilante justice, when you have no police around to defend businesses and people who are being attacked and their livelihoods burned to the ground, then there is a void that is filled," Katie Pavlich said. Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, of Antioch, Illinois, is accused of shooting and killing two protesters and injuring a third person earlier this week.

Judge Ian Thornhill issued a temporary injunction ordering Linn County Auditor Joel Miller to notify voters in writing that the forms should not have been pre-filled with their information and cannot be processed. Instead, they'll have to either fill out new requests for absentee ballots or vote on Election Day.
