Students rally at Capitol supporting gun laws

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — More than a dozen Michigan State University students and others are rallying at the Michigan Capitol Thursday in support of new gun laws.

While the rally goers have expressed support for gun laws adopted last year in the wake of the mass shooting at MSU’s campus that left three students dead and five other students injured, they are demanding more action.

Some students also pushed back on the university’s decision to reopen Berkey Hall, one of the two buildings where the shooter killed people. Protesters condemned the reopening of Berkey Hall, which they say happened without input from the campus community.

They are also calling for more input on new security protocols on campus.

Some of the students will be meeting with lawmakers later Thursday.

This is a developing story.
