Studio Glow Day Spa recently opened at 237 Main St. The spot was previously home to Bexley Ann's Boutique, which moved down the street to a larger location.

Owner Ashten Ray said she and her grandparents, along with other family help, remodeled the space in about a month. It features an esthetician room, nail room and a treatment room for teeth whitening, permanent makeup and other offerings in the near future.

Ray is the esthetician and Zay Carroll of Coshocton is the nail technician. Ray is a Coshocton native, but now lives in Zanesville.

Offered are facial and body treatments, waxes, manicures and pedicures. Ray said they want to add a massage therapist and a lash technician.

"I wanted to bring something to Coshocton that was kind of different. Something girls can go to, something that really wasn't offered," Ray said. "Let's make something where girls will say, 'wow, I don't want to leave.'"

A ribbon cutting was recently held for Studio Glow Day Spa at 237 Main St. Featured are Safety Service Director Max Crown, Amy Crown of the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce, owner Ashten Ray and nail technician Zay Carroll, Tiffany Swigert of the Coshocton Port Authority, Mayor Mark Mills and, in the back, Ray's grandparents who helped to remodel the space, Gary and Karen McNichol.

Ray said they want to turn the back area of the shop into an event room by the summer. This could be for children's birthday parties, wedding parties getting ready, etc. She said they want to do something with the upstairs area too, but haven't figured that out yet.

Ray has a degree in child and family studies, and graduated in June from the Aveda Institute in Columbus.

"I've always enjoyed being busy and career driven," she said. "I couldn't decided if I wanted to work for somebody or start my own business. My heart said to start my own business in Coshocton."

"I love making somebody feel beautiful and just making them feel comfortable," Ray said. "I'm a people person and enjoy being around females and doing what they love to do."
