New study of Google reviews ranks Bellingham as second-best city for pizza in Washington

Bellingham has some of the best pizza in the country, according to a new study conducted by pizza oven manufacturer Pizzello. The study, which ranked 250 cities according to the average score of the pizza restaurants within their borders, handed Bellingham the No. 39 spot in the U.S. and No. 2 in the state of Washington. With an average review of 4.52 out of 5, Bellingham was less than .01 behind eleventh place Sioux City, IA.

The study specifically mentioned the “fresh, Pacific Northwest zest,” of Bellingham’s pies that makes them “both rustic and refined.”

The only Washington city to rank ahead of Bellingham was Everett, at No. 33 in the country with a nearly identical average rating of 4.52. Seven other Washington cities made the list, with Tacoma being the only other one to crack the top 100 at No. 48. Seattle ranked No. 104.

Keeping with the theme, 26% of respondents said they were put off by pineapple pizza, making it the most controversial type of pie.
