Stunning CA mansion listed for under $1 million. Is it a ‘pricing error’? Check it out

A stunning house in Southern California is getting some national attention not because of its beauty or millions of dollars in interior upgrades, but because of its low asking price.

Like, really, really low.

For a megamansion.

“This elegant estate is a modern French-European architectural masterpiece evoking an exterior stone design inspired by castle royalty,” the listing for the Diamond Bar estate on Zillow.com says.

And the price of this architectural masterpiece is? $998,000 — for eight bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, and a whopping 13,750 square feet of luxurious space.

Less than $1 million dollars.

While surely this has to be some sort of typo or a missing zero since the cost of the home’s upgrades appears to be way more than the cost of the entire house, the listing has been active with this price for over 20 days. It was for sale in 2022 with the price set at $7.5 million, which is a 86.7 percent drop.

Features of the home include:

  • Elevator

  • Study

  • Game room

  • Media room

  • Entertainment area

  • Bar

  • Fireplace

  • Chef’s kitchen

  • Zen garden

  • Lap pool

  • Tennis court

“Remodel investment was $4 million and took two years to complete,” the listing notes. “Framing, exterior walls, doors, windows, tennis court and pool are original. Notable customizations and upgrades include a front entry water feature imported from China, trees and stones in the garden with one large black pine valued at $250,000 and many high-end light fixtures.”

The home was featured on Friday Night Zillow, a Twitter segment run by Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis, and people were stunned.

“I think this is the most underpriced mansion in America. 8BR, 13BA, 13,750 sf, a pool & tennis court on 1.1 acre in Diamond Bar, California, listed for $998K,” Dennis said on Twitter. “WTH??? Pricing error?”

Gotta be a posting error. Previously listed 8.5-9 range and meant to do 9.98,” one person noted.

There must be a few numerals missing in that price. Diamond Bar is an upscale CA community,” another said.

I spent a good amount of time in Diamond Bar in my youth. I’ve never seen a pad like this,” someone tweeted.

87% price reduction and the HOA fee is more than reasonable. What is the chance I can get the property tax reduced y 87%. I have questions but count me as interested!” one person commented.

Was it built over a cursed graveyard?” another asked.

McClatchy News has reached out to the listing agent for comment but has yet to receive a response.
