Sturgis approves Popeyes restaurant project for Centerville Road

STURGIS — A Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken restaurant is set to come to Sturgis next year.

The Sturgis City Planning Commission on Tuesday, Nov. 15, voted 5-0 to approve a site plan review for the property at 501 and 503 S. Centerville Road. The existing building formerly housed Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Michigan Real Estate and a title company.

The applicant, Aby Groups, reported the existing building will be demolished and a new, 3,050-square-foot restaurant with a double drive-through will be built. Construction will also include a new parking area and stormwater management system, as well as a new entrance off Ohio Avenue.

The two addresses at the property will be merged and the restaurant be at 501 S. Centerville Road.

SHOJ LLC of Grand Rapids owns the property.

Gabe Alvez, Rick Mahler, Pete Stage and Luis Perez were absent from the meeting.
