Sturgis to flush fire hydrants

STURGIS — Sturgis city residents are being reminded the city’s department of public services will be flushing hydrants this month as part of regular maintenance.

The schedule is tentative and subject to weather conditions.

On April 15, crews plan to flush all fire hydrants on Fawn River Road and south of that point. On April 16, the area south of East Chicago Road and east of South Nottawa Street will be serviced.

Crews will flush hydrants April 17 in the area south of West Chicago Road and west of South Nottawa Street. On April 18, the area north of West Chicago Road and west of North Nottawa Street will be serviced. The last planned day of hydrant flushing is set for April 19, where crews will focus on the area in Sturgis north of East Chicago Road and east of North Nottawa Street.

Should any water discoloration occur in water, residents should let the water flow for several minutes until it becomes clear. If discoloration persists or for questions, residents may call the department of public services at (269) 659-7297.
