Sturgis Winter Wine Down, art auction Friday

STURGIS — The Sturgis Downtown Development Authority's Winter Wine Down and Art Around Town art auction returns March 24 to the city's downtown district.

The event will be 5:30-9 p.m., said DDA events coordinator Ryan Conrod. Select businesses will showcase live music, food truck vendors are scheduled to offer meals, social district "to-go" wine specials will be sold, and a silent art auction will take place at The Open Door Gallery, 101 W. Chicago Road.

Bev Benne, director of the Open Door Gallery, and Ryan Conrod, DDA events coordinator, show off a piece of art that will be on display during the downtown Sturgis Winter Wine Down and Art About Town events Friday.

Wine About It from White Pigeon and B52 Winery from Paw Paw will offer samples and information about their wines at the gallery during the event. A drawing for wine tumblers will also be part of the festivities at the Open Door Gallery. The Easter Bunny is scheduled to make an appearance during the evening.

Conrod said all proceeds from the silent auction will go back to the DDA to apply to future events, as well as to the Open Door Gallery, a nonprofit co-op.
