STVM's Diego Pinto puts up four goals in soccer win over Norton

BOYS SOCCER

St. Vincent-St. Mary 4, Norton 0

Irish junior Diego Pinto is having quite the week.

Two days after scoring a hat trick at Padua Franciscan, Pinto went one better Thursday at Green Street Stadium, scoring all four of STVM's goals in a 4-0 win over the Panthers.

The Irish (3-1-2) got a shutout from goaltender Nicholas Bertolini, and they finished with a 12-1 edge in shots on goal.

Hudson 7, Lake 0

The Explorers (5-1-1) showed off their team depth Thursday. Seven Hudson players scored goals in a rout of the Blue Streaks. Hudson finished with a 15-3 edge in shots on goal.

GIRLS SOCCER

Manchester 4, Chippewa 1

The host Panthers handed Chippewa its first loss Thursday night as Kattie Norris scored two goals and added an assist. Manchester (8-1) also had scores from the feet of Lauren Gunsett and Gina Tipton. Abby Henegar scored Chippewa's (6-1) lone goal in the first half.

Norton 4, Cloverleaf 1

Katarina Jovanovic, Addie Kropp and Isa Thomas each won their singles matches to lead the Panthers (10-1, 7-0) to a Metro Athletic Conference win on Thursday.

North 5, Ellet 0

The doubles teams of Nirjana Tamang and Kajal Subba and at No. 2 doubles Prabina Majhi and Chandra Rai did not five up a point in straight set wins for the Vikings. North improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the City Series.

BOYS GOLF

Springfield 184, Streetsboro 184

The Spartans needed Logan Porter's tie-breaking score to post a Metro Athletic Conference win at Chenoweth on Thursday. Porter carded a 56 which was one stroke better than the Rockets' fifth score. Brady Hahn led Springfield (10-6, 9-4) with a round of 42. Josh Williams and Noah Newman also posted 6-over par 42s for Streetsboro (5-8, 5-5).

Woodridge 187, Coventry 189

For the third consecutive week Woodridge has knocked off the Metro Athletic Conference leader, downing Coventry at Brookledge by two strokes. Will Schmeltzer led the Bulldogs (7-5, 5-5) with a 41.

GIRLS GOLF

Medina Invitational

Highland's Isabella Goyette's 2-under par 70 was good enough for medalist honors at Fox Meadows Country Club on Thursday. Goyette led her Hornets to a first-place finish. Highland won the team scoring with 308 strokes, while Rocky River Magnificat was second at 313. Strongsville was third in the 18-team field.

Hudson 159, Aurora 183

Emmy Burling and Lizzy Grant each broke 40 as Hudson improved to 3-1 with Thursday's win at Ellsworth Meadows. Burling carded a 36, while Grant came in with a 38.

St. Vincent-St. Mary 165, Marlington 171

At Mud Run Golf Course, Raygan Hoover carded a 1-over par 35 to lead the Irish to a 7-0 dual match record. Maria Warner from Marlington shared medalist honors with Hoover as the Dukes fell to 8-2.

Woodridge 238, CVCA 239

Morgan Joy's 53 led Woodridge to a 1-stroke, nonleague win over CVCA at Fox Den Golf Course on Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL

Wadsworth 25-25-25, Stow 17-16-17

Aly Snyder keyed the Grizzlies to a Suburban League National Conference win on Thursday. Snyder dished out 26 assists and scored 10 points, including four aces, to help Wadsworth improve to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the league.
