Succession star Brian Cox has explained why he hasn't watched the series finale of the HBO show, explaining that once he's finished a project, he doesn't like to "cling on".

Cox starred as the patriarch Logan Roy in the hit show, which follows the Roy family scrabbling for power when Logan steps down from the media company. Cox exited the show early on in the fourth and final season after Logan died in episode three.

The show then came to an end after episode 10 but, despite the popularity and critical success of the show, Cox explained in an interview with the BBC that he hasn't watched the end of Succession.

"I’ve never liked watching myself for a start and, somehow or another, because of what happened to Logan, I’ve been disinclined to watch the rest," Cox said.

"I knew how it was going to end because I knew that Logan had already set it up and so I gather, ultimately at the end, Logan’s won through, even though he’s in the grave.

"But it’s a strange situation, I don’t cling on to things. When I’m over, it’s over, and I go on, and I find that with this show, which has been a great show, it's been one of the great shows of all time, especially for me."

Cox later explained that he was "fascinated" by the show's take on "the wealth gap". He said that he felt that, in real life, people are "getting poorer" and "getting richer," while the rich are becoming "separated" from reality.

"That’s what our show is dealing with and, rightly, they got their just deserts in the end, apparently. I haven’t seen the finale but, apparently, they get their just deserts," Cox said.

Succession season 4 airs on HBO in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
