Authorities said a Subaru wagon, driven by a 17-year-old, struck Shaw, who was a pedestrian, in the road. Authorities did not say why Shaw was in the road.

Shaw was taken to the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, where he later died.

The Middlesex District Attorney's Office did not provide the driver's name, residence or gender. It did say the driver remained at the scene, and has not been charged.
