Sue Barker's last ever Wimbledon: How to watch the tennis coverage

Sue Barker is calling game, set and match on her 30 years covering Wimbledon for the BBC - but before she retires, she has one final tournament to cover from the All England Tennis Club.

Barker has been the face of Wimbledon for many a competition, so she will be sorely missed from 2023 and is sure to be celebrated as she interviews the winners for one last time on Centre Court.

Here's all you need to know about the BBC's Wimbledon coverage for 2022.

When is Wimbledon 2022?

The Championships, Wimbledon will run from Monday, 27 June until Sunday, 10 July in 2022.

Coverage will be broadcast across the BBC for the duration of the tournament.

Why is Sue Barker leaving?

Former tennis player Sue Barker has been the face of Wimbledon at the BBC for 30 years, as much a part of The Championships for viewers as strawberries and cream or Henman Hill.

But in June 2022 she announced that it would be her last year broadcasting from Wimbledon as she intends to retire from sports coverage.

She was the first woman to front coverage of a crown jewel event on the BBC and blazed a trail for other women in sport and sports broadcasting.

Barker said: “What a wonderful time I’ve had working on some of the biggest sporting events around the world. I will miss it terribly but after 30 years I feel the time is right for me. I’ve worked with the best of the best."

Tim Davie, Director-General of the BBC said: “Sue Barker has been the face and voice of Wimbledon for three decades. Many of our viewers will not know of a summer in SW19 without her. She is a consummate professional, an outstanding presenter and a wonderful colleague, loved by current and former players, all of us at the BBC and audiences across the UK and beyond.

“Her contribution to tennis, the BBC, sports presenting and for blazing a trail for women in broadcasting cannot be overstated. We are looking forward to her leading our coverage, with all the style, warmth and knowledge she has displayed for the last 30 years, and we will say farewell with heavy hearts at the end of the tournament.”

When is the Wimbledon 2022 final?

There are a number of finals at The Championships which will be broadcast live as follows:

• Mixed doubles - 7 July

• Men's doubles - 9 July

• Women's doubles - 10 July

• Women's singles - 9 July

• Men's singles - 10 July

How can I watch Wimbledon 2022?

Barker will be live from Wimbledon every day during the tournament for BBC One and Two, and will be joined for discussion by former Wimbledon champions including John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Billie Jean King and Pat Cash, with the line-up also including Tracy Austin, Johanna Konta, Caroline Wozniacki, Tim Henman and Annabel Croft.

Viewers can catch up with the day's highlights at Wimbledon by tuning in to BBC Two's Today At Wimbledon fronted by Clare Balding and broadcast from Henman Hill at 8.30pm each day.

As well as sports news coverage, there'll be radio commentary on 5 Live and live match coverage on iPlayer.
