Suffield To Hand Out COVID-19 Self-Test Kits Sunday

·2 min read

Information via the town of Suffield:

January 1, 2022
Dear Suffield Community,

The Town of Suffield has received 1,164 COVID-19 self-tests that were distributed by the State
of Connecticut to us this morning. This number is well below the previously released numbers
and we understand falls incredibly short of the demand in the community.

A small number of kits will be retained for us by our critical municipal infrastructure (Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works etc.) a number of kits will also be distributed to the Suffield Senior Center, Suffield Community Aid, and the Suffield Housing Authority. These kits will serve to protect the essential services in town and our most at-risk and vulnerable residents including those living in congregate settings. Each agency will communicate to those they serve independently on how they plan to distribute these kits to the clientele.

The remainder of the kits will be distributed to the public on Sunday starting at 3pm until all
supplies are exhausted at the Suffield High School. These kits will be made available on a
first come, first serve basis with a limit of 2 per household. You will be asked to show proof of
residency to obtain a kit.

Because of the limited number of kits available we ask that if you have the means of obtaining a
test elsewhere that you do not pursue getting one of these kits. We would like these kits
distributed to anyone who has had a known exposure to someone who was COVID positive and
those who are currently experiencing symptoms that may be related to COVID and cannot
receive a test elsewhere.

We understand that the number of kits does not meet the current need of the community. We are
seeking opportunities to obtain more test kits and continue to advocate for increased PCR test
availability in our community. We thank everyone for their patience in this process.

Sincerely,
John Spencer
Emergency Management Director
