Suffield wins Litchfield Hills Classic consolation game

Dec. 31—The fourth quarter of the Suffield High boys basketball team's game Friday night proved to be Mike Coggins' time.

The junior scored 10 of his 17 points in the decisive fourth quarter as the Wildcats topped host Canton 45-38 in the consolation game of the Litchfield Hills Classic tournament.

Coggins, who was named to the all-tournament team, hit a 3-pointer and was 5-for-5 at the foul line over the final eight minutes as the Wildcats (2-2) erased a 30-28 deficit. Nick Sattan added nine points. Canton (1-3) received 13 points from Brandon Powell.

Suffield will return to Canton for an NCCC game on Wednesday.

CROMWELL 58, ROCKVILLE 42. In Cromwell, Victor Payne had 17 points in the host Panthers' non-league win.

Luke Gagnon added 13 points for Cromwell (4-0). Which led 28-22 at halftime. Weston LaBrecque had 26 points and five rebounds for Rockville (2-2).

The Rams are at Ellington Wednesday.

ENFIELD 79, AEROSPACE 41. In Enfield, Isaiah Plummer finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the Eagles to a non-league win.

Enfield (3-2) led 22-10 after a quarter and broke the game wide open with a 26-5 second quarter.

Lamar Davis and Kaden Birkett each added 10 points. Trikel Delaire had 12 points to lead the Jets (1-3). Jayden Ramirez chipped in 10.

Enfield concludes its three-game home stand Tuesday when it welcomes East Hartford.

CHENEY TECH 63, LEDYARD 59. The Beavers topped the Colonels in the consolation game of the Fitch Holiday Tournament in Groton.

Cheney (2-2) had fallen to Smithfield (Rhode Island) 52-41 in the first round Thursday. The Beavers return to action Tuesday when they entertain Goodwin Tech.

Peyton Luther led Ledyard (0-5) with 15 points.
