Suffolk police charge man in ‘domestic-related’ shooting that killed a woman

Police in Suffolk have charged a man in connection to a “domestic-related” homicide that happened early morning Tuesday.

Darion Robb, 29, of Suffolk has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Allyjah Rivera, according to a news release from the department.

Emergency responders received a call at 4:20 a.m. about a shooting that happened inside a home in the 100 block of North 10th Street, police said. Upon arrival, officers found Rivera, 23, of Suffolk, with a gunshot wound. Emergency responders took Rivera to a hospital, where she later died.

Police said Robb was still on scene. According to the release, Robb allegedly shot Rivera. Police have not said how Rivera and Robb knew each other.

Robb is being held without bond in Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released other details about the homicide. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Suffolk Police Department.
