Monday (Nov. 15) meeting

KEY ACTION Passed an ordinance extending the contract of WE Quicksall and Associates Inc. of New Philadelphia.

DISCUSSION: The ordinance allows for professional engineering services for the village. WE Quicksall has worked with the village for several years.

In another matter, Councilman Ron Atkinson said he feels honored to represent the village by serving on council and thinks the village does not need to pay him for the privilege. He donated $7,200 to be directed to the K-9 unit. He said his family makes sure to contribute every year to the K-9 and encourages others in the community to make a donation. All attending the meeting thanked Atkinson for his generosity.

OTHER ACTION

Heard a contract is in place to order road salt for the winter.

Passed an ordinance entering into a contract with the County Public Defenders Commission for 2022.

Adopted an ordinance authorizing the village to enter into a contract with the county commissioners for housing prisoners.

Held the third but not final reading of an ordinance authorizing the mayor and fiscal officer to enter into a contract to provide fire protection and ambulance services to Clark and Walnut Creek Townships, and East Homes Fire District for 2022. Mayor Jeff Stutzman said the ordinance might need to be amended and bought to the Dec. 6 meeting.

Held the third but not final reading of an ordinance setting water and sewer rates for the village. The ordinance will be amended.

Passed as an emergency, an ordinance authorizing the village to enter into an Ohio Enterprise Zone agreement with Gnomon Properties LLC, an Ohio Corporation, and Eagle Machinery and Supply, to grant a tax abatement of 75% for eligible real estate improvements.
