Sul Ross State's Eddie Sinegal among El Paso athletes faring well in college

Several former El Paso high school sports standouts are faring well at the college level. Here is a look at how they are doing.

Ysleta graduate Reynaldo Flores has 232 yards receiving for the 1-2 UTEP Miners, who won their first game of the season Saturday against New Mexico State.

Andress graduate Eddie Sinegal has 70 yards receiving in two games for the Sul Ross State football team.

Franklin graduate Kaleb Gutierrez has 16 tackles, an interception and a quarterback hurry in two games for Western New Mexico.

Coronado graduate Dominique Varela has six tackles, four tackles for a loss and two sacks for the UT-Permian Basin football team through two games.

Franklin graduate David Powers has 10 tackles, one sack and one quarterback hurry for the Wofford football program.

Fabens graduate Victoria Flores has 31 kills for the Sul Ross State volleyball team.

Ysleta graduate Cassandra Espinoza has 30 kills for the Sul Ross State volleyball team.

Eastlake graduate Faith Herrera has 75 digs for the Sul Ross State volleyball team.

Chapin graduate Tatyana Colon has 59 digs for the Sul Ross State volleyball team.

Eastlake graduate Aylin Pereyra has scored three goals and has an assist for the Sul Ross State soccer team.

El Paso High graduate Hannah Payan has 75 kills and 48 digs for LeTourneau University.

Eastwood graduate Caitlyn Buettner had 8 kills and 9 digs for Texas State in win against Wake Forest on Sunday. Against Ole Miss on Friday, she had 5 kills and 3 digs.

Chapin graduate Camila Ramirez has 80 kills and 70 digs for Our Lady of the Lake volleyball team.

Eastlake graduate Stephanie Sanchez has 48 kills and 45 digs for the UT-Permian Basin volleyball team.

Franklin graduate Sydney Varela has two goals and an assist for the St. Mary's (Texas) soccer team, which is 6-0 on the season.

Eastwood graduate Lauren Walls-Portillo finished 14th overall in her first collegiate cross country meet for UT-Arlington on Saturday.

Franklin graduate Bianca Chacon has three goals and two assists for the 3-2-1 New Mexico State soccer team.

Earlier this month Irvin graduate and Tulane runner Aaron Gilliam earned American Athletic Conference Male Athlete of The Week in cross country. Gilliam dominated the men's 5k at the UNO XC Opener in New Orleans, Louisiana, as he claimed a first-place victory in his first collegiate race. He ran a 14:34.30 in the race, finishing nearly six second ahead of second place. Gilliam helped lead Tulane to a first-place finish to open the season.
